A residential fire broke out at Waling Waling St., Brgy. Central, Quezon City, on October 6, 2026, at 12:45 PM, affecting the Botanical area within the jurisdiction of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish – Quezon City (IHMP). According to the initial report, the incident displaced 182 families, comprising a total of 497 individuals. The affected residents are currently sheltering in evacuation centers, including the Lagoon Covered Court, MRF, Daza Hall, and Orchids Court.

In response to the emergency, the IHMP community immediately organized relief operations. Parishioners and SSDM Volunteers gathered at the parish to prepare meals. The volunteers worked together to cook and distribute portions of Menudillo and rice to the evacuees.

The relief efforts continued throughout the week. On October 10, after gathering and sorting donations, the team delivered 100 packs of hygiene kits containing bath soaps, detergent, bleach, shampoo, and oral care items. They also distributed 15 sacks and five boxes of assorted clothes, along with coffee, to the fire victims.

The parish continues to appeal for support to help the displaced families recover. The outreach team is accepting cash and in-kind donations such as easy-open canned goods, rice, bread, biscuits, noodles, hygiene products, and cleaning supplies. Benefactors can drop off these items at the Pastoral Center.
